Overview

The Har Ki Dun Ruinsara Tal Trek is one of the most renowned treks in the Garhwal Himalayas, ideal for first-time trekkers. Har Ki Dun Valley, situated at an altitude of 3,566 m at the base of Fateh Parvat, offers a blend of natural beauty and adventure. Surrounded by dense forests and sparkling Himalayan peaks, this valley is a paradise for nature lovers.

The name Har Ki Dun translates to Valley of God, with Har meaning God and Dun meaning Valley. According to Hindu scriptures, the Pandavas are believed to have ascended to heaven through this region. Some local communities even worship Duryodhan as a deity, and a temple dedicated to him is located here.

The valley also serves as a base to access Swargarohini Peak and Jaundar Glacier to the southeast, while Bandar Punch Mountain lies to the west. The locals primarily cultivate Rajma, potatoes, and rice, and the valley connects to the Baspa Valley.

The trek route usually begins from Delhi - Dehradun - Sankri - Taluka - Osla - Har Ki Dun, passing through forests of walnut, chestnut, chinar, and willow trees. The trail from Osla to Har Ki Dun winds through terraced meadows, thick forests, and traditional Himalayan villages. The region is also known for earthquake-resistant stone houses with wooden beams, reflecting the local architectural heritage.

At Trekking in India, we offer an expertly guided Har Ki Dun Ruinsara Tal Trek, allowing travelers to experience the natural beauty, spiritual significance, and cultural charm of this hanging valley.
