We have established our Green Lake base camp at over 5,000 meters to help trekkers acclimatize comfortably. Accommodation is provided in well-equipped camps with essential facilities. The trek begins from Bagdogra Airport and covers Lachen, Tallem, Jakthang, Yabuk, and Green Lake. After two days of rest at the Green Lake base camp, the return journey follows the same route back to Lachen.
This trek is both physically demanding and technically challenging, making it ideal for experienced and adventurous trekkers seeking a true Himalayan expedition.
Fly from Delhi to Bagdogra. On arrival, drive to Gangtok (124 km / 5 hrs). Overnight stay in hotel.
After breakfast, drive to Lachen in North Sikkim. Overnight stay in hotel/tents.
Begin trekking towards Zema, where the Zemu Chu and Thangu Chu rivers meet. After crossing a bridge, the trail follows the left bank of the Zemu Chu toward Green Lake. The first 6 km is broad and easy, though occasional landslides may occur. After another 6 km, reach Tallem, located at the confluence of Lhonak Chu and Zemu Chu. Overnight stay in tents.
Enter the lush forests for which Sikkim is famous. Cross a bridge and climb steadily through dense vegetation to Shobuk. The trail then descends steeply to Jakthang, a small forest clearing. Overnight stay in tents.
A rest and acclimatization day. Overnight stay in tents.
Continue through the forest, crossing a bridge over Thombak Chu. The path includes several ascents and descents, sometimes affected by floods. The trail then descends to the banks of Zemu Chu before reaching Yabuk, a small but beautiful and windy campsite near the glacier. Overnight stay in tents.
From Yabuk, the trail enters the moraine field of Zemu Glacier, crossing boulders and rocky terrain. Though challenging, the trek rewards you with magnificent views of Mt. Siniolchu, Mt. Simvu, and glimpses of Mt. Kangchenjunga. Overnight stay in tents at Rest Camp, near the mouth of Lhonak Valley.

Full day for rest and exploration. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Kangchenjunga range. Overnight stay in tents.
Begin the return journey toward Rest Camp. Overnight stay in tents.
Descend gradually to Yabuk, enjoying the beautiful views en route. Overnight stay in tents.
Continue descending through forests to Jakthang. Overnight stay in tents.
An easy day's walk with moderate ups and downs to Tallem. Overnight stay in tents.
Final day of trekking toward Lachen. Mostly downhill and comfortable. Overnight stay in tents / hotel.
After breakfast, drive back to Gangtok. Overnight stay in hotel.
Wake up to your final morning in the Himalayas, pack your bags, and prepare for the drive to Bagdogra Airport. Board your flight back to your respective city, carrying unforgettable memories of the incredible Green Lake Trek — a journey filled with adventure, beauty, and serenity.
