




Possibly one of the easiest treks in the Ladakh region, the Sham Valley Trek captivates the heart and soul with its unique blend of natural beauty and rich culture. The trail meanders through the famous Apricot Valley of Ladakh, unveiling the authentic charm of traditional village life, ancient monasteries that echo centuries of Buddhist heritage, and untamed mountain streams that crisscross the valley.
With gentle gradients and an average elevation of around 4,500 meters, this trek is perfect for beginners seeking a rewarding Himalayan experience without extreme challenges.
Also known as the “Baby Trek,” the Sham Valley route covers approximately 30 km from Likir to Temisgam and takes 4 - 5 days to complete. The ideal time to undertake this trek is between June and mid-September.
Take an early morning flight from Delhi to Leh (approx. 2 hours). Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and rest for the entire day to acclimatize - a crucial step for a successful trek at high altitude.

Leh, the captivating capital of the Autonomous Hill Council of Ladakh (popularly known as Little Tibet), is dotted with monasteries like Shey, Thiksey, Hemis, Spituk, and Sankar. Don't miss Shanti Stupa, Stok Palace, and the bustling Main Bazaar.
The Leh Palace, once home to the Namgyal Dynasty, dominates the town's skyline. Summer festivals at Hemis, Phyang, and Lamayuru monasteries are especially famous for their vibrant Cham dances.
Full-day sightseeing covering Hemis, Shey, and Thiksey Monasteries.
Overnight stay at the guest house.
After breakfast, drive 58 km to Likir Village (3,650 m) - the starting point of your trek.
The trail ascends westward to Phobe La (3,580 m), passes Sumdo Village, and climbs gradually to Chagatse La (3,630 m).
Descend to Yangthang (3,630 m) and camp near a stream. The Ridzong Monastery, about an hour south of Yangthang, is a major attraction.
A gentle day of trekking. The trail descends briefly before climbing west to Tsermangchan La (3,750 m).
After a short rest at the pass, descend to Hemis Shukpachen, a stunning village known for its cedar trees, willow-lined streams, and lush barley fields - a refreshing contrast to the rugged mountains.
Another relatively easy day. The trail gradually climbs between two hillocks before a steep ascent to Mebtak La (3,750 m), marked by prayer flags.
From here, descend through a gorge to Ang, a charming village surrounded by apricot orchards.
Overnight camp at Ang.
The final day is an easy downhill walk to Temisgam, where the trek concludes. A vehicle will be waiting to transfer you back to Leh.

Transfer to the airport for your morning flight to Delhi.
For adventure lovers, optional road trips to Manali or Srinagar can also be arranged, with overnight halts at Sarchu (Leh - Manali route) or Kargil (Leh - Srinagar route).
